A Simple Tomato Rose

Firstly let me apolagise for the poor quality pictures, hopefully you can see whats hapening.
So this is one of, if not the simlpest garnish to make if you are nice and gentle with the tomato, any size of tomato will work but i recommend a firm tomato. This is great for salads , or just showing off to your guests . I often use these to garnish buffet platters.

Step 1. With a sharp knife or potato peeler, peel the skin off the tomato starting from the bottom and go around the tomato until you reach the  top , it is important to keep the skin in one single length so go slow and take your time. A small amount of tomato flesh on the skin is ok.

You should have a long ribbon of tomato skin, and a naked tomato.
Step 2. Starting from the thinnest end of the tomato ribbon simply roll the ribbon as tight as possible to start with, half way down the ribbon you can start to roll  the  tomato skin a little looser.

Step 3. Just before you get to the end of the ribbon, twist the rolled ribbon on to the last bit of tomato skin almost like placing a cup onto a saucer. Finally you can see a resemblance to a rose, but may need to loosen the roll to make the petals look perfect.
